Instructions for Use

Patch Tool prompts students to fit shapes or patches together to form designs.

Start by creating a square patch with a pattern. Use this design to repeat the pattern many times over. Use the slide, flip and turn tools to create the pattern.

To use Patch Tool, click on a pattern shape to place it in the workspace. Use a variety of shapes to create a pattern. Click the arrow or slide button to drag the shapes in the workspace. Click the rotate or turn button and click on the shape to turn it. Click the flip button and click on the shape to flip it. Click the erase button to delete the shape.

As students make more complex shapes, have them examine the design and rearrange the shapes to construct new ones.
