Lesson 4 - Solve Problems Using a Model

 

To encourage your child to have fun on the Web while learning about Solve Problems Using a Model, here are some games and interactive activities they can do on their own or in pairs.

Instructions for Use

Area Explorer prompts your child to investigate the area of different shapes.

To use Area Explorer, slide the 'Adjust Maximum Size' slider to change the shape of the units. Click the "Draw New Shape" button. Determine what the shape's area will be and type your answer into the text fields. Click the 'Check Answer" button.

To draw a new shape, click the 'Draw New Shape' button.

Point of View lets your child use point of view to solve area problems.

To use Point of View, click the 'Rotate' button to choose a member of the Cybersquad. Each member has a different point of view. Click the squares on the play area to show what the Cybersquad member sees from their point of view. Click 'OK' to check the answer. Click the 'Rotate' button again to choose a new member. Show the squares in the play area from the new member's point of view.
